On the 16th of  May, Université Paris Cité hosted the exhibition evening for the programme Singapore: a Nexus of Nature, Culture, and the Arts. Centred around creativity, intercultural exchange, and environmental reflection, the event showcased the work of around fifteen Master’s students in English Studies. Following an immersive stay in Singapore and several months of preparation, their projects captivated the audience. A look back in images at an evening rich in sharing and discovery.

A project forged through international collaboration

Born of a partnership between Université Paris Cité and the National University of Singapore (NUS), this exhibition showcased projects developed during a two-week study trip to Singapore in January 2025. Coordinated by Ariane Hudelet, professor specialised in visual culture, in collaboration with Catherine Marcangeli and Abigail Lang, the programme offered students a truly immersive learning experience beyond the classroom. The aim: to explore the city-state through the lens of sustainable urban planning, in connection with the cultural, environmental and artistic challenges specific to this one-of-a-kind “Garden City”.

Creations inspired by field experience

Embroidery, photography, film, journals, and a sound installation : a diverse array of creations, each telling the story of the students’ experience in its own way, enriched by their encounters with Singaporean artists, urban planners, and residents. The event drew a large audience, including the President of Université Paris Cité, Édouard Kaminski, as well as a delegation from the Embassy of Singapore in France, a presence that echoed the 60th anniversary of Franco-Singaporean diplomatic relations.
