The SMARTS-UP project, which led to the creation of the 28 Graduate Schools at Université Paris Cité, plays a key role in the internationalization of research-based education. Each year, it supports top students from around the world through the awarding of mobility grants. For this new edition, the Graduate Schools team organized a welcome event to greet the 112 selected awardees.
This year, the call for applications for the SMARTS-UP mobility grants was a great success, with a record 2,546 applications for 112 first-time awardees from 45 different countries across 4 continents (Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe).
To open the evening, the awardees attended a presentation by Matteo Cacciari, Scientific and Technical Director of the SFRI SMARTS-UP project.
“We are very pleased to welcome the 112 SMARTS-UP awardees. The incoming mobility grants, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and Université Paris Cité, enable us to attract excellent students from around the world into our programmes and research units. Within our Graduate Schools, they will have the opportunity to meet dedicated faculty members and curious peers, to develop their skills, acquire new knowledge, and prepare for their professional future, ultimately becoming informed and responsible citizens of tomorrow’s world.“
Matteo CacciariThis event also gave the new awardees an opportunity to meet and exchange with the entire Graduate Schools team, and in particular with Ludivine Breger, Head of the Graduate Schools team, who introduced them to Université Paris Cité and the resources available to support their integration.
To conclude the evening, the students had the chance to get to know one another and exchange in a warm and friendly atmosphere over a buffet, which was particularly appreciated.
