Course overview

The international Master « Physics of Complex Systems (i-PCS) » is a two-year French-Italian programme (M1 & M2), jointly operated by Université Paris-Saclay, Sorbonne Université and Université Paris Cité. It is possible to join the Physics of Complex System master at the M2 level.

The goal is to provide a state-of-the-art research-oriented education in fundamental physics and in the modelling of complex systems. These are studied with the tools of statistical physics in or out-of equilibrium, field theory, stochastic processes, dynamical systems, non-linear physics, inference techniques and computational approaches. These systems encompass complex networks, active matter, the interface between social sciences and physics, soft matter, quantitative economics, biological systems, complexity in the quantum realm, or questions raised in the context of « big data » and « machine learning ».

Skills and competencies developed
  • Training in modern methods for the modelling of complexity
  • Fundamental and applied research, network oriented private sector (energy, transportation, information), quantitative finance, applied research an development, industry, etc.
