As every year, the Graduate Schools of Université Paris Cité welcomed their students through friendly and engaging events. These occasions offered everyone the opportunity to meet their peers, exchange with professors, and be inspired by talks from passionate experts in their fields.

Graduate School Linguistics: welcome evening and LingFest to start the year

The Graduate School Linguistics invited its students to a new edition of LingFest, an intensive linguistics training session designed to prepare students for entry into the Master’s program. The event brought together first- and second-year Master’s students as well as PhD candidates, offering a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge, meet peers, and exchange with professors.

Students attended talks by Aimée Lahaussois, researcher and co-director of the Graduate School, and Maud Pélissier, Associate Professor, who both presented the Graduate School. Researcher Patrick Caudal gave a lecture on the semantics and pragmatics of languages. PhD students Quang Chau and Yanis Da Cunha also contributed, focusing respectively on phonetics and phonology, and on the syntax of languages.

Alongside this event, the Graduate School team organized a welcome evening, enabling Master’s students, PhD students, and faculty members in language sciences to meet and exchange in a spirit of mutual inspiration and mentorship. The warm and friendly evening brought everyone together around a buffet.

Exchanges and networking at the Graduate School Drug Development

The Graduate School Drug Development welcomed over 150 students to its back-to-school seminar. After a welcome coffee in the Hall of Honor of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the day began with a presentation of the Graduate School, followed by a seminar on ethics and scientific integrity delivered by Prof. Xavier Coumoul.

The afternoon continued with a roundtable hosted by Prof. Valérie Besson, bringing together alumni from the various master’s programs of the Graduate School. They shared their career paths, experiences, and advice, providing the new cohorts with a concrete overview of possible professional opportunities.

The day concluded with a friendly cocktail, offering a valuable moment for students, professors, and alumni to continue their exchanges and networking.

A new academic year focused on global health and mental health for the Graduate School Society and Health

The Graduate School Society & Health brought together its students for a discussion dedicated to the issues of global health and mental health.

After an introduction by Franck Temporal, associate professor and socio-demographer at CEPED, a roundtable moderated by Bernard Andrieu, co-director of the Graduate School and professor at I3SP (Paris Institute for Sport and Health Sciences), explored various topics connecting society and health.

Students also benefited from the insights of Fanny Chabrol, researcher and sociologist at CEPED, who addressed the transformations of hospitals in the face of global and planetary health challenges. Maïa Fansten, associate professor at Cermes3, presented her work on the social dimensions of eco-anxiety, while Vahine Bouselma, PhD student in private law, discussed the issue of patient violence in psychiatry.

These discussions offered students of the Graduate School a rich, multidisciplinary perspective on the relationships between health, society, and the environment.
