Internship abroad
Université Paris Cité offers its students the opportunity to do an internship abroad, in Europe or outside Europe.

The procedure to follow for an internship abroad is demanding, requires anticipation and organisation, especially for obtaining the visa and for drawing up of the internship agreement.

What is an internship?
An internship is a temporary period of employment, with or without European credits (ECTS), which is undertaken as part of an educational program.
In both cases, the purpose of an internship is always part of an educational plan and is only valid in relation to that plan ; it is therefore mandatory to obtain the authorisation of the pedagogical team, who will ensure that the internship brings value to the course.
Eligibility requirements
In order to be able to do an internship abroad, the student must, at the time of application, be registered at Université Paris Cité for a national degree (in the case of a joint degree, the administrative registration must be done at the university).
When selecting the country of destination, it is necessary to take note of the information disseminated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in particular on security and the conditions of entry or stay in the chosen country.
Procedures and internship guidelines
In order to carry out an internship abroad, undergraduate students must first check the internal procedures related to the programme in which they are enrolled by contacting the pedagogical secretariat of their program and the hosting arrangements of the chosen country on the MEAE site.
The internship agreement establishes the legal link between the host organisation, the host foreign university and the student. Mandatory, this tripartite act, which certifies the status of intern and protects the student in the event of an accident, must be signed by all parties (responsible or legal representative of the host organisation, tutor, student) before departure.
A piece of advice: give priority to sending the convention via specialised carriers (DHL, FEDEX, etc.) in order to save time and security.
1. Create an account on the mobility portal >
2. Fill out online the internship agreement or addendum >
3. Send a copy of your insurance certificate to your teacher educational institution or to your internship office.
4. Take out additional medical coverage covering cases of pandemics (please note that this clause is generally not included in standard insurance packages). If you have any questions about the signing of your internship agreement: please contact your educational secretariat.
A copy of the documents required for entry into the country is also required: certificate of repatriation/advance of medical expenses and certificate of CFE membership in the event that the allowance exceeds the threshold of the equivalent of €3.90/hour. Failing to do so , the University reserves the right to cancel the course.
