ALTAE (URP 3967) is research team that brings together linguists from two departments: UFR EILA and UFR d’Études Anglophones. Their work focuses predominantly on English, Spanish, German, and French, and extends to Vietnamese, Chinese, Esperanto, among others. Research conducted within ALTAE explores contemporary language technologies used for communication and knowledge construction as well as for the research in linguistics. Together with experimental approaches, these are employed to investigate various linguistic phenomena and to analyse the evolution of communicative practices through the lens of languages, and in relation to transformations in society and technologies. Their research addresses a wide range of disciplines and areas : linguistic data science, with particular attention to the use of artificial intelligence, corpus linguistics, knowledge bases, specialised translation, terminology, phraseology, discourse analysis including specialised discourse, digital discourse, discourse in social and development contexts, as well as grammar, syntax, semantics, phonetics, second language teaching, and psycholinguistics.
